Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Instant e-PAN<\/strong> service is available to all Individual taxpayers, who have not been allotted a Permanent Account Number (PAN) but possess Aadhaar. This is a pre-login service, where you can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Obtain digitally signed PAN in electronic format, free of cost, with the help of Aadhaar and your mobile number linked with your Aadhaar,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Update PAN details as per Aadhaar e-KYC,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Create an e-Filing account based on e-KYC details after allotment \/ updation of PAN, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Check the status of pending e-PAN requests \/ Download e-PAN either before or after logging in to the e-Filing portal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    2. Prerequisites for availing of this service<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Individual who has not been allotted a PAN<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Valid Aadhaar and mobile number linked to Aadhaar<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • User, not a minor as of the date of request; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • User not covered under the definition of Representative Assessee<\/strong> u\/s 160 of the Income Tax Act.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      3. Step-by-Step Guide<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      3.1 Generate New e-PAN<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Step 1:<\/strong> Go to the e-Filing portal homepage, and click Instant e-PAN.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Step 2<\/strong>: On the e-PAN<\/strong> page, click Get New e-PAN<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Step 3:<\/strong> On the Get New e-PAN<\/strong> page, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number,<\/strong> select the I confirm that <\/strong>checkbox <\/strong>and click Continue.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • If the Aadhaar is already linked to a valid PAN, the following message is displayed – Entered Aadhaar Number is already connected with a PAN<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • If the Aadhaar is not linked with any mobile number, the following message is displayed – Entered Aadhaar Number is not connected with any active mobile number.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Step 4:<\/strong> On the OTP validation<\/strong> page, click I have read the consent terms and agree to proceed further<\/strong>. Click Continue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Step 5:<\/strong> On the OTP validation<\/strong> page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on the mobile number linked with Aadhaar, select the checkbox to validate the Aadhaar details with UIDAI and click Continue.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        • OTP will be valid for 15 minutes only.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • You have 3 attempts to enter the correct OTP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • The OTP expiry countdown<\/strong> timer on the screen tells you when the OTP will expire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • On clicking Resend OTP<\/strong>, a new OTP will be generated and sent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Step 6: <\/strong>On the Validate Aadhaar Details<\/strong> page, select the I Accept that<\/strong> checkbox and click Continue.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Note<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            \n
          • Linking \/ Validating your email ID (registered with your Aadhaar) is optional.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • If you have updated your email ID in Aadhaar but it has not been validated, click Validate Email<\/strong>. On the Validate Email ID<\/strong> page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile number linked with your Aadhaar and click Continue.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • If you have not updated your email ID in Aadhaar, click Link Email ID<\/strong>. On the Validate Email ID<\/strong> page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile number linked with your Aadhaar and click Continue.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            On successful submission, a success message is displayed along with an Acknowledgement Number. Please keep a note of the Acknowledgement ID for future reference. You will also receive a confirmation message on your mobile number linked with your Aadhaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            3.2 Update PAN details as per Aadhaar e-KYC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Step 1<\/strong>: Go to the e-Filing portal homepage and click Instant e-PAN.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Step 2:<\/strong> On the e-PAN<\/strong> page, click Update PAN.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Step 3<\/strong>: On the Update, PAN Details<\/strong> page, enter your <\/strong>12-digit Aadhaar number, select the I confirm that <\/strong>checkbox and click Continue.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

              \n
            • If the Aadhaar is already linked to a valid PAN, the following message is displayed – Entered Aadhaar Number is already connected with a PAN.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • If the Aadhaar is not linked with any mobile number, the following message is displayed – Entered Aadhaar Number is not connected with any active mobile number.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

              Step 4:<\/strong> On the OTP Validation<\/strong> page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile number registered with Aadhaar and click Continue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

              • OTP will be valid for 15 minutes only.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • You have 3 attempts to enter the correct OTP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • The OTP expiry countdown<\/strong> timer on the screen tells you when the OTP will expire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • On clicking Resend OTP,<\/strong> a new OTP will be generated and sent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                Step 5: <\/strong>After OTP validation, Aadhaar e-KYC details along with the details registered with PAN are displayed. Select the details to update as per Aadhaar e-KYC by clicking on the respective checkboxes to be updated as per Aadhaar details and click Continue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Please note that only the following details can be updated as per Aadhaar Details:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  \n
                • Photo<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Name<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Date of Birth (If you only have a year of birth in PAN, you will have to update it in Aadhaar before updating it in PAN).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Mobile Number (It is updated by default)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Email ID (You need to validate the email ID to be updated in PAN details)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Address<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                  Step 6:<\/strong> After selecting all the details which you want to update as per Aadhaar details, click Confirm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  On confirmation, a success message will be displayed with an Acknowledgement Number. Please keep a note of the Acknowledgement ID for future reference. You will also receive a confirmation message on your mobile number and email ID linked with your Aadhaar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  3.4 Download e-PAN \u2013 Post Login<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Step 1: <\/strong>Log in to the e-Filing portal using your User ID and password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Note: You need to Register yourself on the e-Filing portal after receiving the e-Pan. Only after successful registration, you can log in to the portal. Go to the Register for e-Filing (Taxpayer) user manual to learn more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Step 2<\/strong>: On your Dashboard<\/strong>, click Services<\/strong> > View \/ Download e-PAN.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Step 3:<\/strong> On the Enter Aadhaar Number<\/strong> page, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar <\/strong>number and click Continue.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Step 4:<\/strong> On the OTP Validation<\/strong> page, enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile number registered with Aadhaar and click Continue<\/strong>.
                  Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  • OTP will be valid for 15 minutes only.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • You have 3 attempts to enter the correct OTP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • The OTP expiry countdown<\/strong> timer on the screen tells you when the OTP will expire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • On clicking Resend OTP<\/strong>, a new OTP will be generated and sent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                    Step 5<\/strong>: On the View \/ Download e-PAN<\/strong> page, you will be able to see the status of your e-PAN request.
